Maintenance-free homes comprise 2 categories:
A condominium is usually a one-level home in a building with more than 4 units--but not always! It can even be a free-standing home in a condo association. The ownership is different in that you own a divided (or undivided) interest in commons areas.
A townhome typically has 2 stories and there are 2 to 4 units in the building. You own the ground under your unit. It is totally different than a condominium.
Villas can be free-standing or a duplex (“twin villas” or “paired villas”). A patio home is the same as a villa, but many people think of them as being less expensive and/or without a basement. Our MLS (multiple listing service) makes no distinction between villas and patio homes. These homes are listed every which way in our MLS, so when you are ready to purchase a maintenance-provided home, Deb Staley can help you find just the right one.
