Gated Communities in Johnson County, Kansas

Gated communities are not that common here in JoCo KS or in the Kansas City area, in general. In Johnson County, Kansas there are 20-plus gated communities comprising villas, townhomes, condos, and regular single-family homes. Of course, most of these properties are priced higher than communities without gates, and the homes association dues tend to be higher as well. Many of the gated communities are not even staffed at the gate, and it may be left open during the day.

Our MLS (multiple listing service) does have a data entry field for “gated community,” but like so many of the data points in the MLS, the agents forget to use it.
